When Jacqueline passed, I wasn't looking for signs from loved ones. I had spent thirty-five years as a builder, and I trusted what I could measure. But in the time after she ascended, things kept happening that I couldn't explain away, and slowly I began to pay attention.
Signs are in front of you every day
Signs are rarely dramatic. A feather may fall at your feet, a bird may stare into your eyes, or a cloud may pass by shaped as one of your passed loved ones. We just have to be attentive.
I believe those who have passed can see and feel the people they love, and that they reach back to us in the language of small moments. The difficulty is that grief makes us look down, not around.
Feathers that arrive at the right moment
Feathers became one of the clearest signs for me. Not feathers in general, but feathers that appeared at exactly the moment I needed them: after a hard conversation, on a significant date, on a path I had walked a hundred times without ever seeing one.
Songs that play on cue
Music is another. A song that meant something to us both would begin just as I was thinking of her. Once is a coincidence. When it keeps happening, at the right moment, it starts to feel like a conversation.
Messages through mediums
Some of the most striking experiences in the book came through mediums, who relayed details they had no ordinary way of knowing. I write about those sessions in full, because I think the detail is what makes them hard to dismiss.
Death, as we call it, is only the end of the physical body.
How to stay open to the signs
- Slow down. Signs are easy to miss when we are rushing through the day.
- Write them down. A simple note of the date and what happened helps you see patterns over time.
- Notice timing. The meaning is often in when something happens, not just what.
- Talk about it. You may be surprised how many people have had similar experiences.
Jacqueline has expressed that she is happy in her new dimension and wants her loved ones to be happy too, because when we're sad, so is she. Looking for the signs has become one of the ways I stay close to her.
